How to Make "Ghost Notes"?

How do I make these “ghost notes” like in the screenshot? The time is 4/4. There was/is another half note before the half note in the screenshot. I have tried using grace notes, but that didn’t work. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Is there a trill above?

Jesper

No. This is everything between the bass clarinet and the alto sax parts. No trill.

Never mind. I didn’t see the trill. I’m blind. But how do I do the “ghost” notes with the trill?

Engraving Options > Ornaments > Trill Intervals > Auxiliary note

But the auxiliary notes don’t seem to condense as desired.

Jesper

So, since I’m going to be using the condensing feature when I get all the parts inputted to the score, what’s your suggestion on what I should do then?

Try setting Notation Options > Condensing > Trills to “Require identical intervals and notes”.

Not ideal, but at least now you’re getting both auxiliaries.

See this thread for some other ideas.

Is there a way you could please check to see if Engraver Mode allows the user to move the auxiliary notes to be underneath each other?

Yes, you can move the upper auxiliary to the left.
