How to make playback louder on Dorico 6?

Hi,

I’m working on a Vocal/Piano project in Dorico 6, and the playback is really quiet, especially when the dynamics are pp, mp, and p. The sound is okay if the sound is turned all the way up on my headphones, but not the entire time I’m listening to the flow. It’s stressful when the project begins at pp, when the articulations are light, or when the music goes to any soft dynamics. And It’s especially not helpful when I export the audio track and hear it in a DAW so I can record my voice over it.

I recently installed Halion Sonic from the Download Assistant so I can have the sounds come directly from there, like I had with Dorico 5. But when I go to Playback Template, it just says “Default”, so it seems like I can’t load up the Halion Sonic Template, or maybe the sound for Dorico 6 just doesn’t come from there now?

I’d appreciate whatever help you can give me on this!

Default is an odd Playback Template to see - especially because I think that the factory template is called HALion Sonic Selection (I might be wrong). Do you mean Auto?

Is the Show All Factory button under the list selected?

Could you send a screenshot of the dialog?

Alright,

Here’s the screenshot.

You can just go into the Mixer and turn things up. You have both the Piano and the Output faders at -6.02dB. (You have a compressor as an Insert on the Output track too in case you didn’t realize it.)

Generally you could try > Edit > Preferences …
