How to Move Copyright Text Below the Measure Number in Engrave Settings

Hello,

This picture is from the Engrave settings. How can I drag the copyright text further down, below the measure number? It seems that the green line in the Page Layout is preventing me from moving it any lower.

Thank you!

I think you should do the opposite, drag the bottom of the blue music frame up a bit. You can’t move below the page margin.
These things are best done in the Page template. Double-click the First page template on the right panel in Engrave mode, and edit it there.

Also use this so that both Left and Right pages are equal.

… or create a bit more space at the bottom within the blue frame
(> Layout-Options > Page Setup > Music Frame Margins):

see here:

Yes, that might be better, easier anyway. Will affect all pages, though.

Thank you for your response. That was actually the first thing I tried, using either the page margins or the music frame margins. However, when I adjusted them, it moved the staves and the bar numbers down, while the copyright text stayed in the same position, so it ended up above the bar numbers.

What I’m trying to do is the opposite: I want to move the copyright text down below the bar numbers, while keeping the staves and bar numbers exactly where they are.

See this post:

Then try actually moving the green frame with the copyright notice downwards.
To do this, you’ll first need to move the page margins downwards, as the green frame cannot be positioned below the grey page margin.
You’ll probably then need to move the blue music frame on the other pages (default) slightly upwards so that everything looks the same as before.

Hi @ProfS, in case all the very useful suggestions above don’t give you the desired result, here some observations:

the first page of your project (which I tried to reproduce)…

… seems to be the result of a tiny Bottom Music Frame Margin , and a relatively big Minimum distance from staff for the bar numbers (here some example values that give a similar result for the first page):

This, added to the seemingly very abundant bottom page margin (wich you could reduce, as suggested to make place for the other adjustments) (or which you can overcome with the virtuosic suggestion by @johnkprice) gives the undesired overlapping. It is strange thought that on the second page, the music frame margin seems very different (but maybe I am overseeing something obvious…).

Please upload your Dorico file, so we can see exactly what is going on (as I said: just in case you didn’t manage to solve the issue yet…)

I haven’t been able to resolve the issue. Could anyone help?

Thank you so much for your time!

You moved the system manually.

In Engrave Mode > Staff Spacing submode, select the red square on the top left, and press delete.

Result:

We can’t see your other pages, but if you want to refine your settings, you should first go to Engrave Mode > Engrave menu > Staff Spacing > Reset Layout. This will remove your manual adjustments on all pages.

You might also consider removing the page overrides, if you want further changes in the page templates to have effect:

If there are ANY manual changes anywhere on a page (‘You moved the system manually’), Dorico will stop applying automatic formatting, and changing various settings/options will no longer help.

That is not correct!

Dorico will treat any manual change as an offset to the option settings. If you change the settings the new values will take effect (but won’t remove the offset).

The only changes that do not carry through are changes to the underlying Page Template, but only if there are page overrides.

Good grief!

I had meant (because of the photo) the issue of page overrides, but unfortunately I expressed myself rather clumsily.

Originally, I was hoping to move the copyright text down while keeping the lowest staff aligned with the corresponding staff on the next page. But I’m perfectly happy with how it looks now, especially since this is the first page. I’m just so grateful that we were able to get this sorted out. Thank you so much for your time and effort!

Thank you all so much for your time, patience, and effort in trying to help me with this issue! I truly appreciate everyone who took the time to offer suggestions and assistance. I’m so grateful for all your help!
