How To Notate Optional Passage

I have a series of sixteen measures where measures 9-16 repeat measures 1-8 with slight differences in the notes. I would like to notate that the performer may optionally skip measures 9-16. How can I do this? Is there a standard way to notate an optional passage?

Thank you,
Tim

I would try adding a text direction in parentheses at bar 9 and a coda symbol (not an actual coda) at the beginning of bar 17. See if that looks clear enough.

Thanks Mark. Here’s what I came up with:

A774E2AA-E1CF-4948-A339-3D50CDB14552

Then, and the bottom of the page in small text:

B51DA75E-EAB1-44B2-A773-377CBA10C4F7

I didn’t like the look of all that text up at the top. It was too cluttered.

Also, the front matter will contain performance notes that references this optional jump.

Thanks for the tip!
Tim
