I’m guessing that the file must be hosted somewhere else like soundcloud or equl because I don’t see anyplace to upload attachments when posting a message. I’m I correct in this?

Yes, you need to upload your song elsewhere (Youtube, Soundcloud, Box.net, dropbox, and so on) and then post the link here in the forum.
