Hello all, I am more than happy to research, read, and experiment to achieve my desired goal. I am just not sure what it is called. I am looking to arrange my lead sheet so the second chorus is intended as shown below. Can someone kindly point me in the right direction with the correct Dorico terminology? Thank you.
If you add a Coda mark on bar … 9, is it? , then you can set an indent value for it in the Property panel, and hide the Coda symbol.
Thanks for the suggestion. What I found is that in Engraving mode there is a Note Spacing tool that allows me to Option+Click and use left/right arrows to resize. No need to create a Coda. Odd that it is called Note Spacing, yet it affected the position (width) of the measure.
I’d suggest that the Note Spacing and Staff Spacing tools are for small, fine-tuning. I wouldn’t use those for massive changes from the default.
Not because it won’t work: but because in Dorico there’s a kind of “hierarchy of edits”.
I totally agree with @benwiggy here. The problem with edits in the Engrave sub-modes is they are linked to the page. If, for any reason, your music changes before, or you decide to modify values such as space size, vertical spacing, note spacing… All those great tools Dorico offers, well, you might have some surprises with your edits.
The coda trick is robust, it shouldn’t be disturbed too much by the changes you could make. Hope it helps!
So, I have settled on a combination of using the Coda functionality and fine-tuning with the Note Spacing functionality. I am able to achieve the desired outcome. Thanks for the input, greatly appreciated.
