What would be the best way to “wipe” all manual changes in a score, so that only the library settings govern the appearance of the score, by deleting every single manual property change, every manual page- or systembreak etc. etc. etc. in all flows …
It would be nice to have a “menu item” for this task, which I fear does not exist. Seems that a lot of separate “resets” have to be done. At least I’d like to write a macro for this task, will that be possible? How could I guarantee not to miss any parameter I may have changed manually?
Background: I have some “elder” scores, Dorico 3, 3.5, 4… I’d like to reformat them from scratch to correct the problems I found in them recently (broken page breaks, playback quirks… ).
Well, in the Library Manager I can reset all changes I made to the Libraries, import or export Library Settings, compare Library Settings - but I was looking for a way to get rid of all manual changes, of all manual overrides over the library settings, all changes made in engrave mode (position changes, page brakes, that sort of things), condensing changes etc … - I don’t see a way to achive that within the Library Manager, but maybe I overlooked something?
Hi @taguluche, if you want to reset your user library, you could first reset everything in Library Manager, then Export your user settings with the new functionality and reimport it, so it will overwrite your user library (not at my computer so I cannot test if this works. If not please someone correct me).
Thank you for the idea; I tried it out, but it does not work (eg. system breaks, position changes, manual property changes) survive. May be this is indeed the expected behavior when exporting and importing a flow - to maintain all kind of information contained in a flow. Or did I overlook something, kind of switch “import only raw data” when doing the import? Only asks me for: new player vs. try to assign existing players.
The point is I do not want to reset or change the library, its about manual property changes that override the library settings, … or do I get something wrong?
Every change I do via the property panel, eg. library preferes “cresc” → I did override one appearence with <. That kind of things. Or I introduced a manual page or system break. Or I flipped a stem direction, oder I changed a beaming on one place, or moved an item with the mouse in engrave mode. I want to revert that type of actions.
I could search for all Pagebrakes and delete them. I could select all and do reset beaming, etc etc. one step for every possible property change… - a pain … thats why I’d like to do it all at once for the whole score…
For System and Frame breaks, go to Engrave mode and in the left panel click the unlock layout button - that’ll clear them all.
For resetting properties, go to Write mode, ensure that all signposts are turned on (from the View menu), Select All and use Edit > Reset Appearance and Edit > Reset Design.
You’ll still need to reset beaming (which you can do with everything selected).
Oh, and from the Engrave menu, the three resets at the bottom (for Staff Spacing, Note Spacing and Lyric Offsets).
