Dorico’s manual states that all items of a selected type can be selected by typing SHIFT COMMAND A twice. However, when I do this after selecting a dynamic like mf, Dorico also selects all the dynamics before the selected one. That’s not what I need, though. All I want is to remove those that follow the mf. Is there a way to do that?
The quickest way is probably to select to end of flow (which will select everything visible), then filter select>dynamics. (which will limit the selection to dynamics)
Great tip! Thanks!
I just wish Dorico would follow this behavior:
- Select an idom
- Type SHIFT CONTROL (COMMAND on Mac) to select all of the same idoms in the bar.
- Type SHIFT CONTROL (COMMAND on Mac) again to select all of the same idoms in the entire staff
- Type SHIFT CONTROL (COMMAND on Mac) again to select all of the same idoms to the end of the current flow
- Type SHIFT CONTROL (COMMAND on Mac) again to select all of the same idoms before and after the selected one.
You can click on the “start” dynamic"; then COMMAND click on the “final” dynamic; and press Select More. Dorico will select all the dynamics in-between.
That’s an amazing hidden trick. It works. One would think that clicking on the first dynamic, then clicking on the last dynamic while holding shift would do this. Instead, it selects all the music as well. Strange!
By the way, I just tried your trick with chord symbols. It only works when you hold the COMMAND key while clicking the second chord symbol.
Yes, Sorry – command click to keep the first selection and add to it with the second click. That should be true for everything.
You know, I just tried it again with the chord symbols as I described above; only this time, it didn’t work anymore with the chord symbols. This is driving me crazy. It’s the same document I used before. Very strange!
