How to set pages with text and music

Have you had a look at Scrivener? It seems to be popular among authors but may have limitations in including graphics. It might be a powerful writing tool, but might require post-production of the text (and images) in a layout program for ‘our purposes’. I have not looked into it myself, but it has a ‘nice price’ at least:

yes, just don’t google for it

Scrivener is a tool for writers to structure their text and keep track of ideas. Although it has a PDF export, it really isn’t meant for doing layout work. Are you perhaps thinking of Scribus? That’s an open-source DTP app, although my experience with it is that I tried it for about an hour, then immediately bought Affinity.

Greetings.
I’m a Dorico student. I’ve used Finale for years, and all my teaching materials were created in it. I intend to become deeply familiar with Dorico until I can write my teaching content exclusively in Dorico. I don’t like Dorico’s text frames, mainly because they always open for writing in the middle of the frame, which forces me to move to the top of each new frame. I also find it tedious to have to switch between Ctrl 2 and Ctrl 3 repeatedly during the process to create new frames. Even so, I don’t intend to use any other software.
And I’m posting this text because I need everyone’s help to achieve my goals. I consider Dorico to be incredibly powerful, and the developers are always creating new features.
Thank you all for your attention.

What I understand is that the vertical position (center) instead of Top is causing you problems. You’re not the only one.

You might want to explore the flow headings change (and overrides, in Dorico 6) instead of using text frames (and I suppose this was using custom page templates, to avoid overrides, or this is just sub optimal use of Dorico…)

I couldn’t understand your explanation. I’m not sure I made myself clear.
The content I’m creating contains text and musical pieces throughout the page. This layout doesn’t follow any pattern. Forgive me, but I didn’t understand what you meant by changing the flow header. So is there another way to create text within the page?

If you can have your different music things as different flows, you can use the flow headings to input (and lay it out) your text between the music snippets. It’s a very efficient tool that can be used for way more than adding a flow title. This is what I meant.

Depending on your teching material, I think you will have greater success (and output quality) with a dedicated DTP (or book) software. Dorico is #1 in music notation, but not in book production in its current version. Possibly these things will be easier in future versions.

Here’s a little demo of what I did in Dorico.

Please check if this is what you’re talking about.
In Engrave mode, Flow Headings, New Flow Heading. Is that it?

Yes. Believe it or not, I am kind of confident this can be done using custom flow headings in lieu of text frames.

But as it has already been notified, maybe Designer or the same kind of app could be more suited to this kind of material production.
