How to share project so that samples in drum track won´t go missing?

Hi everybody.

Does anyone know how I can share my Cubase 14 project with another producer so that samples in Drum track or Groove Agent won´t go missing.

I know that by default the samples I bring into Drum track are not imported into my project audio folder. They are just linked from my SSD directory.

I tried to manually bring the samples into my audio folder and then brought them into Drum track hoping that when the other person opens the project, Cubase will automatically scan the audio folder and find them but sadly no. When opening the project, it still says samples missing. Yes they can be located by directing to the audio folder but still, it would be better if the project would open seamlessly.

Does anyone know a solution for this?

PS: I used “Back up project” to clean up unused media and export the project.

If you both own all plugins that are used in your project, there should be no problem to open each others project files. (Assuming you correctly installed them and you are on the same version).

If the other producer doesn’t own the plugins you use, you can still render that track into an audio clip and send your project that way, but obviously the other producer won’t be able to edit the midi or instrument.

Thanks for the reply Joshua. Yes, plugins open up fine but I have problem with custom samples that are used in Groove Agent or Drum track. They are not imported into pool or project audio folder. So when I send the project over, these samples will go missing.

It sounds like an additional feature is required to check a box to include samples when exporting. Upon checking the box, it would copy the files from drum track to a folder inside the project folder when choosing to export the project.

I can see how that would be useful, even without exporting (just to have the files consolidated to one location upon saving the project).

I learned early in my career that Cubase (or almost any big editor, really) shares projects best if you archive all the compotents of the project together in the same directory structure. Sure, it creates duplicates and redundancy, but it gains archival forward-compatibility, and shareablity.

yes, I guess this is the solution for now, but it’s time consuming. It would be great if Cubase had a feature that collects every sample used in Groove Agent and puts it into project folder.

So I just moved a folder of Samples and Drum track will not search for them , which isn’t great :frowning:
