I’m trying to make a basspart of “Come together”, but I’m having problems making a shortened version so it doesn’t take up 11 pages.
Flow 1 is the original and Flow 2 my attempt to shorten it. But I’m stuck here
Anyone like to have a go at shortening it as much as possible? (segno’s, codas, repeats etc..)
one suggestion would be to halve the durations. the original recording starts with 2 1/8 notes, 2 1/16 notes and 1/8 tied to a 1/4 and 1 quarter note - that’s bar 1
unless you need it exactly the way you wrote it (then please ignore my suggestion)
Great, Daniel - that definitely helps
Anyway to shorten it further ? - e.g. get verse 4 to start at the same place as the other verses ? - He need tabs also, so it’s still a bit long.
Have you considered not notating it fully? Not everything needs to be written down in detail. In this case, it seems to me it’s just overcomplicating things. (And I’m someone who loves reading sheet music - I start teaching it to my students right away on their first trumpet lesson because I find it a very useful skill to know.)
You could simply notate each different riff (or maybe section) as its own separate flow. And then write the form down in text (or learn it by ear).
Yes! It looks like this is a part. Use the staff label token in the upper left of the page to identify the part and get rid of the staff labels with each system. (Once the page is handed out, the players don’t need to be reminded what they are playing!)
It is likely you won’t get it all on one page (though I may be wrong), so strive for clarity.
