Other than putting the deprecated measures in a separate flow, do any of the resident luminaries see a way to skip over the deprecated measures without pausing or playing them? The gap and repeated starting barline, brace, and clefs are not necessary.
I tried using the Coda and finessing the repeat endings but could not find a way to simply jump from the end of one measure to the start of another.
Put a DS al Fine at the start of the skip section and hide it.
Put a Sengo at the very end of the skip section. Say, a 1024th note from the end of the measure so it’s mostly undetectable and hide it.
