How to update the project folder?

Actions:

  • Open a previous project
  • Save it with a new name to a new folder
  • Add audio files from that new folder to the Pool
  • Go to export, and when I select the location to export and choose “project folder” or “Project mixdown folder” it directs me to the original file’s project folder. Also the Pool still shows the old project folder

How can I update that project folder? I am finding that if I don’t create from a template and choose the desired folder at that point, I am stuck. I understand why the above sequence of events happens, not a mistake, but - how can it be changed later? I’d think that should be an option. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction (without repeating what I already know, that I CAN do it if I start the project from a template or from scratch and choose the location in the initial project creation dialog).

Just to be clear on my use case, I’m mixing down shows recorded in multitrack, so the tracks and settings are best used again, but every show gets more tweaks in the processing, and it’s tiresome to keep saving a new template. I’m not recording any new material - I just dump the tracks from the mixer flash drive into a folder called Audio in the new dated folder. I want to be able to update the default project location at any time.

Probably Back up Project… instead of Save As… would be more suitable for your workflow. In contrast to Save As…, Back up Project… also copies the media files and adapts their paths to the new storage location.

It’s been my experience that if you move the project to a new folder, or rename the project folder, and then open the project, a dialogue usually pops up asking for where the project folder is. Although I’ve not had to do this in while, so maybe C13 won’t do this.

Renaming or deleting the old project folder is the trick.

If you make a copy of a project, save it to a new location, its still pointing to the original project and audio pool. (You need to use “Back Up” and not “Save As” to do this in one shot)

Rename the folder or delete it, and when you open the newly saved project, it will ask you for its new ‘home’.
