How to use repeatable symbols

Forgive me if this is very obvious but I’m seeing all these fantastic lines in the “Edit Repeatable Symbols” that aren’t showing up in the “lines” box or anywhere else that I can see. Please explain. I want to get some of these beautiful “quasi-random squiggles” into my score!

Dorico uses some of those “fantastic lines” in several of the factory line bodies, under the category Repeatable symbols: in the Edit line bodies dialogue you can create your own line bodies, combining the glyphs presented there in any combination possible. Your choices will be previewed in the white preview area, in that dialogue. You can also edit those symbols (or even create new ones) clicking on the pencil icon on the bottom right. A very handy control (for your custom Repeatable symbols) is the Repeat offset value, to fine adjust the point where the symbol will be repeated :
