How to use the tempo track??

I write in automation but don’t hear the tempo change happening when playing it, even-though the change is displayed in the transport bar. This makes no sense??

the tempo change of what? Metronome? Audio? MIDI? of a certain track…?

Isn´t it great to have to ask for every little piece of info, to help someone…?!
Set your track to musical mode and make sure its content is prepared to follow musical mode…
