How to write a driver for a remote controller

I’m developing a MIDI based controller on my own. It is a dedicated Hardware with two faders and some pots.
The idea is to have a remote controller to control the Automation.
Somebody knows how to rewrite the Mackie control driver?

Some tutorial or example are well accepted.

Do you know how to add a new peripheral in the + menu in the remote controller submenu?
