How to write a grand staff instrument with a single voice

how can I make this

span both staves and look like this ?

Enter all the music into the treble staff. Whichever notes you want in the bass staff, click them and press M. This is the key command for cross-staff notes. N will do the opposite.

Create all the notes on the top staff. Then use M (cross staff) to move them to the lower staff.

Ha! I tried that before but I didn’t put all the notes into a single voice first and that is why it didn’t work.
