Hyphen colliding after system break

Hi all,

I am happy with my lyric settings, but now and then I get this:

Is there any way to avoid it by changing settings? This one is also rather difficult to select since it is so small.

You can avoid it by turning off hyphens at the start of systems!

Otherwise, you’ll need to manually adjust it, which should be possible.

Very true…! Is it more common not to repeat the hyphen after the line break (just like in written text) than to repeat it?

My own preference is always to show the hyphen at the start of the system, but many publishers do not.

Dorico puts the hyphen at the earliest position it can (rhythmically), but it doesn’t know to adjust it further left graphically based on the width of the first word or syllable. It would be good, of course, if it could.

I occasionally experience this issue as well. It seems to occur randomly. It would be great if Dorico could improve this behavior in an update.

Anyway, I found out that the quickest way of adjusting this, especially if you have more than one, is to use the note spacing tool. Just one adjustment necessary:
