I cannot activate the Artist 15

Hi,

I’m not sure if you can help me but I have just purchased Cubase Artist 15 as an upgrade to my existing Artist 7.5. I cannot activate the Artist 15 because Cubase says that I have no license. I have a USB licenser which I understand is no longer active so I don’t know how to prove that I am entitled to upgrade to Artist 15. Please advise.

Are you sure that your Cubase Artist 15 licence is listed and activated in the Steinberg Activation Manager ?

Can you log in to your MySteinberg account, please? Is Artist 7.5 registered in your account? If this is not the case you need to adress Steinberg support, first. There must be a registered 7.5 license conncted to your account if you want to upgrade to 15.
Worry not, it’s possible.

Thank you for your response. I do not know how to get through to Steinberg Support. When I try, I get a message that my Artist 7.5 must already be registered in order for me to get any support. It seems like a Catch-22. I can’t register my Artist 7.5 because I can’t locate the serial number or other proof of license on a program that I have owned for at least 10 years. At the same time, I apparently must first register in order to get help from Steinberg Support. Steinberg informs me that it cannot locate my Artist 7.5 license and, therefore, I am not entitled to purchase an upgrade to, or activate, Artist 15. I would expect Steinberg to be able to determine whether and when I bought my Artist 7.5 (it was 2014), considering that it was Steinberg who made my USB licenser obsolete.

You should receive a download access code in the email associated with the account that did the purchase. Once you enter that code in Download Assistant, it will add Artist as a download in your products and a license for that will be added to the Activation Manager.

Is your USB-eLicenser still functional? If so, you should be able to see the serial number in the eLCC app. If you can do this, try to register it in your Steinberg account.

How would they have any way of knowing? The only thing they would know is when you registered the eLicenser to your account. So, did you register it? Also, your USB-eLicenser is not “obsolete” unless it is broken.
