I cannot figure out how to add pedal playing techniques in Dorico 6

Hello you all,

I am using a Fazioli F308 Sample Library that supports the 4th pedal of the F308. Naturally I made a playback technique linked to an addon switch within my expression map. I want the playing technique to be like the una corda playing technique - i.e. I want the playing technique to have an end per default like the “tre corde”. However, I cannot figure out how to do it. All pedal techniques don’t show up in the technique editor so I can’t copy their design.

Are new pedal types like this currently supported? If so, how do I implement them?

N.B. I know I can make a “reset” playing technique and place that manually. But I want the behaviour of pedals specifically, namely that they have specified durations. and their placement rules

Kind Regards

Welcome to the forum, @frn. I’m afraid there is no way at present to add custom pedal lines that behave the same way as Dorico’s default piano pedal lines.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your quick reply. That is truly a bummer. For now, I’ll just add a “reset Pedal” playing technique. Is there any chance Dorico will add this in the future (and if there is: how do I raise this as a feature request)?

There is nothing more you need to do to “raise this as a feature request”. Daniel and other members of the Dorico team monitor this forum daily, make note of things users would like to see, and decide what features will be included in updates or upgrades and their priority in terms of timing. However, the team does not give advance notice of priorities and timing.

Hi @frn,

(please ignore this reply if this is all known to you)

even if the custom PT doesn’t exactly behave as the other pedal lines, setting the continuation as line will give you a graphical representation of its duration. In case you are referring to the VSL Fazioli, you set all the CC parameters (CC75 in this case) in the Expression map, together with the resets in the other switches:
