Hi so in Cubase 14( I am a new user ) I cannot hear any of the tracks even when recorded still no sound. I think it might be because I dont have a midi divice plugged in but am an not sure?

Can anyone help?

Please reply to this comment if you have any ideas

What audio interface are you using? How do you have the outputs in your Audio Connections panel? Do you see activity in the tracks that youā€™ve recorded? Is is just the Chord Pads you canā€™t hear?

You mean ā€œChord Padsā€ as in the Cubase functionality, not the type of sound, right?

Make sure to set ā€œOutput Modeā€ correctly.

I am using the scarlett 2i2

Yeah thats not working for me I have been told by many to do this but it is no working for me.

Letā€™s start at the beginning. If you are not getting any sound out of your system even with recorded tracksā€¦

Go to Menu > Studio > Studio Setup. Are your Scarlett in and outs shown?

Go to Menu > Studio > Audio Connections > Outputs tab. Is you Scarlett shown as a stereo output?

Yes I am using the scarlett as an input but using other speakers as my output that do not support the scarlett

Not sure that I got thisā€¦ How speakers could not ā€˜supportā€™ an audio interface outputs ? Ususally, decent amplified monitor speakers have both XLR and jacks inputsā€¦

EDIT - The procedure is this one :

A. Be sure that there is an existing MIDI Port that is connected to your MIDI keyboard/Controller :

B. Be also sure that there is a valid audio output associated to your speakers.

C. Create an instrument track, which will associate a chosen VSTi with it, and :

  • be sure of both its Input (it should have the MIDI Port defined in the MIDI Port Setup panel) and Output Routing (the VSTi used),
  • be also sure that the Monitor button is active in the track inspector :

D. The chord track part :

  1. Create it with the contextual Add Track > Chord command
  2. Associate it with the instrument track previously created
  3. Activate its Record Enable state.

C14_RecordChordtrack

Done. You should be able to record chords coming from the instrument track in real time, using the Transport bar Record button.

Thankyou so much that worked

Hi so sorry to ask again but do you know if there is a way to do this without using a type of midi input or output cause on the go I just want to bring the laptop and use the mouse cursor to select the chord pads.

Everything can be done inside Cubase. I donā€™t know for sure but you seem to be implying that you need an external keyboard and external sound device to make this happen. You donā€™t.

I would :

  1. Activate the lower zone (upper right of the main toolbar) :

  1. Select the Chord pads tab in it.
  2. Use [Drag&Drop] from a given chord of the Chord pads panel to the desired place in the Chord Track created.

Yeah that works bu I get no sound like usual

If this is important I have not downloaded all cubase files from the download assistant ( i have enough storage i just want to save my storage )

Can you make a screenshot of the tracks involved, with the instrument track having its inspector visible (this, to check the Routing section of it)

It isnā€™t related to your issue, as long as you are using a correctly installed VSTi (eventually, check the VST Instruments panel of your VST Plug-in manager).
