I cant figure out how to show lanes on audio track

Greetings to the group. I have finally began moving away from Cubase SX3 with Cubase 15 Elements but will likely upgrade to Artist 15. It’s a big jump from SX3 to this but after I get use to it I know I am going to enjoy it.

Today I exported what will be my last song in SX3 into E15 so I could lay down a vocal track. I have been trying to figure out how to show lanes in my audio track. I have two takes that are stacked but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to show it as lanes. It was a button in the inspector before. Any pointers would be appreciated. I tried the help but did not find it.

I believe you need either Cubase Artist or Cubase Pro to get the show lanes button:

Yes, @rickpaul is right about lanes being an artist/pro feature only.
If you are planning to upgrade to Artist then now is the time. Right now it’s 40% off and the end of summer sale ends every day now (26th or 28th of September?)
Definetly worth making the jump!

Thank you to the both of you. Out of the all the features in Cubase that is one that I use constantly. Looks like I will be upgrading sooner than I expected.

Do it while the sales are on!
Sit on the download code until 16 comes out and you may get that upgrade, too.

Too late to “sit on it”. It’s downloading now. No big deal. I have a steep enough learning curve going from SX to 15 let alone having 15 AND 16. I will keep that in mind in the future though.

It’s not that the “Show Lanes” button is an Artist/Pro feature only. Comping is.

I don’t know what “Comping” is but now I can click on the bars and the lanes show which is how I am used to working. The “Help” for Elements did show lanes and said it’s a nifty way to view and edit but it did not tell me how to make them show up. With Artist I had to move the lanes from Hidden to Visible and all is good. Thanks for all the help everyone, I really do appreciate it.

That’s an error in the documentation. There’s no way to show lanes in there because that’s not a feature Elements has, at least not from version 12 ownwards.

Useful if a performer has absolutely no talent and requires multiple takes to get a decent end recording. Not entirely joking!

@Googly_Croft harsh, but funny. That said, a 24 or 32 bar rap verse where one syllable is off… suddenly comping becomes preferable, not just faster
