I have recorded some songs from a concert on my Zoom L-20 mixer and I want to edit them in Cubase. I have connected the mixer to my PC, but Cubase does not let me adjust the sliders on my PC. Also, I cannot connect my mixer on the output options, only on the input options. What do i do, what am I doing wrong?
That is not how the l20 works. You can only control the l20 via the iOS app. You can’t control it with midi or key commands. What you need to do is either put the sd card into a reader and drag the audio files across and then load them into Cubase. The other way is to install the driver which will then give you 20 channels input in Cubase (you need to set them up in the connections menu) . You can then play the tracks in realtime and record in Cubase.
L20 is not a control surface. You can’t use it as a mixer in Cubase or vice versa.
The driver has 20 inputs which can be used as an audio interface with 20 simultaneous tracks. It only has 4 returns back to the L20. There is a switch on the back to set it to audio interface mode.
It can also record to Cubase (or any DAW) while simultaneously recording to sd card.
I regularly use my L20 for location recording, band rehearsals and live gig recordings. I then transfer to Cubase and do the rest from there.
This.
@mkok knows what he’s talking about. BTW, the L20 is a great device, it can be used different ways with your computer and Cubase, but what he wrote above is the quickest way to edit the files in Cubase.
My suggestion is to take some time to seriously look at what it can do and how it facilitates a variety of workflows.
Good luck, enjoy your L20, it works well with Cubase, and once you learn the workflows, you can do tons of cool things with it. It’s one of the most flexible devices on the market right now.
