I keep getting beachballs and hanging after recording

Hi Everyone!

Although I’m new to cubase, I’ve been recording for years and I don’t have this issue in any other DAWs (Logic Pro X, Studio One Pro, or Pro Tools). When I’m recording, as soon as I stop the take, it hangs and gives me a beachball for around 10 seconds or so. It’s very annoying but hasn’t crashed. I didn’t have any plugins on any tracks. My buffer was at 128. I also tried 256 and that didn’t seem to make a difference.

I’m running a 6 core i7 Macbook Pro with 32gb of RAM. I’m currently on Mojave 10.14.6 and have Cubase Pro 10.5.2. I’m still on my demo version of Pro and will be purchasing soon. I’m tracking onto a glyph Studio drive (Not SSD, but 7200 RPM). I"m tracking through a Universal Audio Apollo x8p.

When tracking only one single track, It doesn’t hang. Only when I had about 13 or so tracks.

Is there some preference I might be missing somewhere or something along those lines?

Thanks so much

Ron

Hi and welcome,

I would guess it’s because of the non-SSD drive.
