Okay, I have researched YouTube videos and read various forum topics regarding no sound on real time mixdown and silence when reviewing media bay content, yet I remain totally bewildered! I am not new to this but have been on an hiatus for several years and returned a few weeks ago replacing my Noisy old Windows desktop with a modern MacBook and upgrading to Cubase 13 pro from an older version.
I will post screen shots if I can remember How I used to do it, and include my outboard synth set-up incase it has any relevance. Everyone and his dog urges all to use control room. I’m not a professional but did this anyway, and for a while everything seemed to work as it should until I realised I was having odd volume issues with may out board synths, so I experimented with using the output function instead, which didn’t help so I re-enabled control room.
Now, not only am I unable to hear media bay content but my real time exports are silent. If I select meter from right of screen I hear nothing but it visibly engages with the audio at a considerably lower leval than normal play back. If I select CR there is no activity in its meter so obviously no audio is making it to CR and then to my PreSonus 1810c audio interface, and the same applies if I use the standard output.
And a strange thing I have discovered is that if I disengage real time export it continues the same but without the “outboard gear engaged” warning. Another odd thing I noticed a couple of days ago is where I let the silenced mixdown continue for a while until it reached a part of the project ware an outboard synth is used that played
out loud, just that synth?!
I don’t mind telling you this is seriously damaging my enjoyment. I even opened a previous project that mixed down correctly at the time, but not any more! I even tried creating a few bars of audio with Groove Agent and Halion (you Know, when all else fails…) But that made no difference.
If anyone as any idea what might be causing this, or what I may have unwittingly done, I would be eternally grateful. And don’t be afraid to point it out if I’m missing something obvious cos that happens a lot.
Regards
Phil
