I load in some older projects: my keyboard shortcuts disappear...WHY?

Why Why Why

How can I track what is happening? Its seems like a long piece of string and I paid for an app that is meant to work…actually.

Yeah Im peeved, Im so over wasting my time for the last couple of years with Cubase but Im stuck . Good thing I keep multiple backups now after being stung so many times

Does anyone here have a reasonable idea of whats going on?

How can it be this hard…still.

Never happened to me even once.
But if you can share one these old projects that change the key commands I’ll be happy to give it a try.

Cheers @Johnny_Moneto …of course it happens on work days when I cant afford to waste time…anyway Ill pass one on when I finish this job.

Similar problem here - all my key commands went away.

Some solutions in this thread may also help: Lost all my key commands gone - Cubase - Steinberg Forums

Thanks @alexis

Reassuring to hear it’s not just me

It happened a little while back as well but I had the prefs folder on google backup and windows file history so I could fix it very quickly but this time both those backups had failed

I use a lot of custom keys as well as macros as its the only way you can reasonably use softkeys on Avid control which along with a gaming keypad has really accelerated my workflow over the last couple of years…so to have such a fragile point in the system is a very big issue

I found an older back from 6 months ago which only had a couple of things missing

Prefs and all of that side of cubase is just such a fragmented pile of poo…from years of diff devs, siltataion and no discipline/schema that has been adhered to…its so visibile in legacy remote, just a mixed bag of terms and hierarchy with no solid naming conventions etc (I’ve coded most of my life…its horrifying to me…just so lazy for such important infrastructure)

That’s why I’m so incensed that I pay for a program that just continues with amateur code management: adding more half baked ear candy instead of solid core

Added together I have wasted prob months of time over the last 36 years of use. SX 3 was the last decent rewrite…that absolutely rocks and massive projects don’t even flinch
