I don’t know about Nuendo 13 and 14, but I’m trying to set up EUCON on my iPads and it’s really glitchy. It works, then it doesn’t. When it comes to keyboard shortcuts mapped to EUCON, it’s a nightmare. Sad.
Question: Has your experience with Avid Control been positive in N13, N14, or N15? I want to know if I should keep trying or give up. P.S. When can we expect an update to the EUCON features from Steinberg (since there’s no serious alternative)? Is that even possible? I know we’re already asking a lot of the SB developers…
It can be a bit finicky. I’m using it on a Samsung tablet with an s1 and N13, and it’s generally fine.
One issue has to do with just the connection to the computer, the networking. You’ll do best asking about it on Avid’s forum, duc.avid.com. I know that you can run into conflicts depending on how you connect and how addresses on the network are assigned, so ask there. Their support is good on their forum [clears throat].
As for keyboard shortcuts I’m not sure in what way they’re “a nightmare”. I assign functionality to key commands and macros an functions and the s1 and put those on soft keys in the software and it’s generally no problem. It’s possible for it to “glitch” though and then it’s annoying, so always save the relevant items and have them recallable when you need them. So, what is the specific problem you’re running into?
Here, several of them don’t work. The shortcut was created, EuControl calls it, and… nothing happens. One example is the Part Editing Mode options in the Key Editor. There are 3 modes, and the shortcuts via EuControl only work on two of them. You can try it.
But I’m going to dig a little deeper into the analysis and come back here later. In the meantime, I bought the old and neglected Cubase iC Pro. As for shortcuts (with the iPad), I find it works better. You’re immediately in Steinberg.
P.S. Oops. The shortcuts for the three Part Editing Mode options described above have the same problem with iC Pro as well. So it’s Nuendo, not EuCon. But I’ve had other issues as well; I’ll look into that as soon as I have some time.
For some keyboard shortcuts I found that the corresponding Window has to be in focus. To get “quick link” work every time with a button in EUCON, I hat to put the commamd to select he mixer first on the same button.
Mybe this is a part of some of your issues with keyboard issues as well?
yes, I’ve found this to be true and sometimes even the respective ‘Zones’ of a window , so in these cases making a macro with selecting the correct zone/window first maybe what’s needed.
