Apparently Dorico only uses curly quotes in lyrics? Well, I need a straight quote—specifically for a syllable that consists entirely of “apostrophe s”. Boy does that look horrifying with a smart quote. Help!
I imagine it looks horrifying either way! 
If you use a non-breaking space (Shift Alt Space) on either side, you can get straight quotes.

Thank you, this did the trick. It turns out that you only need the non-breaking space in front, not on either side.
In Dorico 6, there’s a property to disable smart quotes for individual lyrics: simply select the lyric, then activate the “Smarten quotes” property.
If you then leave the corresponding checkbox unchecked, Dorico won’t use smart quotes in the selected lyric(s).
