Hi Stuart, and welcome to the forum!

Did you mean “Cubase” on Atari?

Cubasis is the current edition for mobile devices.

Cubasis is correct l also have Cubase with dongle and that works, l am sorting out my old studio the Atari STE/Cubasisgo back to about 1995 its history now

I’m sorry I don’t understand – what, exactly, are you asking please?

There was a really old version, also called Cubasis, that was available on PC (during the dark ages when Steinberg was owned by Pinnacle). Is that what you are referring to?

I have a legit programme with a dongle that has not been used in years when I start Cubasis up on my Atari 520STE l get a message that no dongle is installed

I think this group foes not go far enough back to help

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any official support for Atari versions any more.

My first Cubase machine was an Atari 1040 ST. I’m sure I’m one of many here who go back that long, but how can anyone test possible fixes nowadays for you system?

I’m thinking, either the dongle broke or it’s not making proper contact.
I can’t remember what the dongles looked like back then, but I would start by cleaning the contact points with some rubbing alcohol.

Thanks for that, l had done them and the midex+ but one is not recognised, l’ll try it again, may open the dongle to check for dry joints as its day past warranty

Is the dongle a cartridge like this?

This was plugged into the parallel port.
Do you have something else to plug in there to test that port? an old printer maybe?

Using a quality contact cleaner, like LOCTITE SF 7039, on BOTH the dongle and the computer port, could save the day.
Plugging and unplugging 25 times can also “clean” the contacts…

I remember there were a number of easy hacks to run Cubasis without its dongle… but good luck finding one today! Would be a fun project if I still had an Atari and its debugger/disassembler tools… (don’t be alarmed, I paid for and legally own 100% of the software I use, and even 100% of the countless plugins I do NOT need  )

Please keep us updated on your progress.
