Shift-L is for lyrics, which would be strange indeed. What do you want this ‘6’ to indicate? You seem to need a sextuplet (and then I still have the same question as above), or is it a fingering, a string number, or maybe just plain text (and what would it mean)?

If you want 6 quavers in the space of 4 quavers, instead of typing 6, you need to type 6:4.
The 4 indicates the span of quavers you want to fit the 6 quavers into.
