Hello, I’m looking for an UR824 Expert…My DAW is Cubase Pro 14 on Windows Pro 11. I have three ur824 interfaces that I would like use together via Adat. I have tried everything with no luck! I can’t even get two units to talk to one another using Adat. My current set up: I have one ur824 running with two ADA8200 mic-pres. I have the ur824 set as the master set at Internal and the ADA8200 as salves. Everything works great in this configuration. I thought connecting the other two ur824 would work the same way. Nope! I set the master to Internal and then using the usb cord on the two units I set one to A and the other to B. Lights on front of each unit stop blinking, which I would think that means they have synced up. The first 8 I/O work, I get a signal but nothing after that. I tried setting the other two units to Internal as well and that didn’t help either. I tried changing the routing using the dspMixFix nothing. Do I have to have all three units connected through their own usb port? Do I need to run BNC cables to the Word clock?
Here’s the strange thing. If I connect a Tascam 8p Dyna mic-pre up using the adat available on that unit they work together. Because the Tascam only has Adat outputs, I run Outpt of the Tascam and Input of the ur824. I set the ur824 to ADAT A and everything works great! Not sure why the ur824 talks to the Tascam and the ADA8200 mic-pres but not to the other ur824s?!! I’m left scratching my head lol. Please help! The ADA8200 are okay but I know I’ll have more control with ur824 when needed.
Thank You
Andy Tullis
The ADA is a simple converter, the UR824 is an audio interface. So you need to tell them to work as converters only.
In the setup window of each unit, you need to route the analog (Mic) inputs to the ADAT outs and store these routings in the device. After that, you should be able to use it as a preamp.
