I want to show standard notation with Tab on the top staff and notation only on subsequent staves

I know there was a similar question asked about five years ago. After reading the answers I tried but still cannot get this to work.

Now however, since there have been new versions of Dorico since then, I am hoping there is a straightforward way to accomplish this. I have searched the documentation to no avail . . .

Bear in mind I am a Finale refugee who’s still taking his first steps in Dorico . . .

Thanks, JFA

Were you omitting the non-TAB notation for the Player on the top staff?

That is certainly possible depending how one configures the layout involved.

Don’t know what you mean. Non-TAB?

I may be wrong, but I think the only way is to have two guitar players, one showing just notation and the other showing notation and tab.

Set the Layout options>vertical spacing>staff visibility to Hide all empty staves.

Notate your first system on the second guitar and everything else on the first guitar…

guitars.dorico (1.3 MB)

“Non-TAB” = just the noteheads-and-stem notation.

Yes, but the minute I enter chord symbols on any of the staves, they show on both players. So in effect, there are no empty staves to hide.

Very frustrating!

One can turn off the ability to show chord symbols in the Setup section’s Player boxes (right-click away from the instrument name).

Hide chord symbols for each instrument (In Setup) and

Layout Options>Chord symbols… Show above top staff
