I wish Dorico could

Custome Page Copy/Paste Im constantly creating same music peace for different levels . So i wish I could easly with less clicks possble copy/paste the first custom Title page with multiple images to my other levels projects which are already created.

TEXT Copy/Paste

  1. Internet: Im creating manual and English is not my mother tongue, so I constantly use Google translator. So I wish I could copy/paste from Dorico to Internet and Back to Dorico
  2. In Setup Flow Names: inside the flows in dorico and also from Flow to Google Translator and back
  3. Music and Text Frames from one page to another. I have created Contents page with the Text
and music frames, page number etc. once its created it sticks on that page. if I want to move few frames to the next page i have to create the same from scratch again for my new next page.

Swap bars I have short 1-2 bars examples in my manual, at time I change my mind and i cant swap the bars. So i need to make multiple manipulations to get desired order of notes in bars.

You can export Page Template sets, so that you can re-use Page Templates in other documents, if that’s what you want.

  1. Dorico should be able to copy and paste text to other applications. What exactly are you copying?

  2. I’m not sure what you mean here.

  3. You can move manual changes to another page, if that’s what you want.

If you’re swapping bars on the same staff, then you might want to create a spare staff to move the selection to first.

With Insert Mode on, you can select a bar and drag it to another place:

:warning: Never forget to switch off Insert Mode once you are finished

I wish it to be able to swap it faster - just by dargging the upper orange line.

I have tried Your method, My insert Mode is OFF; but to me it Overrides the bar in istead of swap and leaves another one empty. What do i do wrong?

Insert mode must be on! I was just saying: don’t forget to switch it off afterwards.

when I try to paste copied text from Internet or anywhere else to dorico (Shift X ) it doesnt work. With the right click I get maximum (Insert Music Text)

Also if I try the written text (Shift X) to copy and pase into Internet or google tranlator - its impossible. It copies but never pastes . It works only within Dorico. I can paste this text IN Dorico but not outside of it.

That is because the right-click in the shift-x text dialog is reserved for entering special music symbols into the text. To paste your copied internet text, simply use ctrl-V, like any other application.

Double click the text and select it, then you’ll be able to copy/paste it.

It worked. Thanks a lot !! I hope in future it will be possible to swap them easier, using orange barline above

Since I’m always using shortcuts, I never noticed before your post that copy/paste was not working in this case via the Edit menu or right-click!

These shortcuts are the standard in Windows as well as MacOS and work in all applications (mostly).

I just looked in the Edit menu and there they do exist

and another close look at the right-click context menu shows them as well

But in the above-mentioned context (Text box editor), it’s greyed out in the Edit menu, and it’s not showing up when you right click, while Ctrl+C/V is working.

I selected a staff before doing the right click and both, Cut/Copy, work as expected. The shortcut text looks greyed out, the menu items work fine.

However, I also prefer the shortcuts, I hate moving the mouse around for this kind of trivial task.

Yes, i see this functions too as You mentioned, but it doesnt paste in Google translator. Only Shortcuts.
All depends on workflow. My Laptop is located over the piano so I use a trackpad with Elgato Stream Deck below the piano for navigation, so for trackpad users there is a bit complicated , i wish Dorico could be more flexiable with basic functions

A pop-up warning sign that ‘Insert Mode’ is still active or in active use would be nice.

One can easily forget to exit ‘Insert Mode’ when concentrating and on the other matters, which can lead to strange events.

Hello . My first title page has multiple separate png images and text. I have created it with “Insert Page” based on None. Therefore I dont have this page as a template. And I need to reuse it for other projects. So by right click there is no “copy page”.

Any ideas how is it possible to do without creating a new template, cause otherwise I need to make all images fonts etc from the scratch again.

P.S. Thanks for trying to help me :heart_hands:

Hi @Lara, the functionality to transform a page created directly in the layout (with page overrides etc…) is not jet present in Dorico. But I remember that a possible future implementation of this functionality was mentioned some time ago.

For the time being I am afraid you need to create a new Page Template with your desired adjustments (If I am wrong, please someone correct me).
You can then export the Page Template Set, and reimport just that Page Template in all future Projects.

P.S.
nice graphic frame, by the way!
