Iconica Panning

I am wondering if Iconica Sketch is prepanned or should the users pan the instruments individually? I don’t have Dorico but would like to use Iconica separately.

Welcome to the forum.

Don’t have my computer at the moment but you could do a search which says

No, Iconica Sketch instruments are generally not prepanned. The orchestral instruments are largely centered by default in the HALion Sonic playback engine, meaning you will need to manually pan them to achieve a natural, realistic orchestral soundstage. [1, 2]

Check the Dorico Live Stage which will make it obvious if you can pan the instruments or not.

If you apply the Auto Playback Template to the Classic Orchestra project template, Dorico will apply the following live stage settings…

Thanks for you reply but I wanna buy only Iconica, not Dorico & if I am using Iconica Sketch for Mac, would you tell me how can I deal with panning on Logic ? Just as usual, I guess ? On the other hand, I wonder if it sounds REALLY nice.

@VivaswanSriharsha Iconica Sketch instruments are not pre-panned so you will need to familiarize yourself with how panning is dealt with in Logic. A forum focussed at least partly on Logic would be more likely to give you useful information.

I’m sure the answer to the question whether Iconica Sketch sounds REALLY nice will depend to a huge extent on the individual listener and can’t be answered with a yes or no. You might consider downloading a free trial of Dorico Pro (which includes Iconica Sketch) to see what you think.

I do believe it sounds nice, given the tone @Mike_Philcox what I meant was if the manual panning can be convincing enough as all the instruments are pre panned, as I would like to use as a virtual instrument in Logic, not thru Dorico.

There seems to be some confusion here. Earlier postings on this thread suggest the Iconica Sketch samples are not pre-panned.I normally use other libraries but will check this out when I am next using Dorico.
