Hi all,
just going through my plugins and sorting some things out. A plugin company I use had now relased VST3 versions of their plugins,
will removing the VST2 plugin lead to “missing plugin”?
Thanks

The simple answer to this is, some will and some won’t. Sorry.
Some manufactures have built into their system that vst2 versions (and older versions) will be replaced by Vst3. Omnisphere. Kontakt. A number of others. But not all. And this is not something that is done by Cubase. It’s down to the plugin manufacturer.
Yeah, guess thats just how it is. only one way to find out really. I just dont remember which projects I used the vs2 versions on.
It not necessarily consuming memory or anything to install both versions, so ill just do that. Then ill pop up to the manufacturer and see what they say.
It is a YES and NO. Some V3 VST use info from VST2 files. Suggest you move the VST2 file to a temporary directory and check VST 3 works well or not. If not, put back the VST 2 DLL to the original folder.
decided to just continue installing both. doesn’t take up much space so it’s not too much of an issue.
