If you are using WinRT MIDI in Cubase and not getting messages, this is the fix

This is the fix for the incorrect timestamp problem which prevents receiving messages. This will go into Windows in the next few months, but we wanted to make the fix available today for those who need it.

Please follow the instructions in the release.

I went to GitHub following this post’s direction and found that this file was no longer there. However, going to MS and searching for the WinRT update file I found a link to a website called Discord which is a site that Pete (Psychlist1972) seems to be heavily invloved with, perhaps the creator. I joined/became a member and searched for the file. It is easy to find, it’s a zip file that you can download, unzip and then select the file ā€œdev-replace-winrt-midi1.cā€¦ā€ In the previous instructions there was a lot of detail that this file does automatically by opening your Windows Command Prompt and installing the correct WinRT dll file. Very easy to do. I changed my selections in Cubase Studio Setup to ā€˜USE WinRT MIDI’ and ā€˜Use System Timestamp for WinRT MIDI Inputs’. All good.

Glad you found a fix, but the file is still there on that GitHub page:

Pete, thanks all your input here!

OK, I do see that finally, on that particular post, if you get past all the warnings and instructions there that accompany the 3-7-2026 MS file, you will find the current 3-18-2026 MS file. I found that earlier info somewhat overwhelming, especially when you consider that the current MS file itself does all the Command Prompt work for you, no questions asked. And perhaps that’s a change worth noting? Within that initial post are install instructions of a MS file that was created on 3-7-2026. The current one created on 3-18-2026 (that you now list) is much simpler. Too bad that earlier info can’t be revamped?

The instructions still apply to the 3/18 version. It’s mostly screenshots

The steps are exactly the same. I’ve had to make them super explicit because many people would run the things I wrote and wouldn’t read all (or any) of the instructions before double-clicking something and then sending me a message saying it didn’t work.

So now I include lots of screenshots so folks can at least scan them. But I guess I overindexed on that.
