Dear friends,
in my score I have instruments with changes like flute with its change to piccolo (pic 1). I also want to write the Grand Cassa (“Große Trommel”) with on-top monterred a-2-cymbals (pic 2 & 3). In my score it works, if both instruments are played in the same time.(pic 4) But, if they are played step by step, the typeface is too cramped.(pic 5) I don’t need the instrument name to change constantly; the different shapes of the note heads are enough for me. How can I set it so that ONLY the instrument changes between the Grand Cassa (G.T., Große Trommel) and the mounted a-2-cymbals are hidden, while the OTHER instrument changes in the score CONTINUE to be displayed? Thanks!
Hi @Ludger_Vollmer,
1)
you could force the instrument to not change in those system where they play near to another: add a Chord Symbol region in Galley view.
2)
Did you consider using a different approach? In this example, in flow 1 I used your current approach, while in flow 2 I used a kit with the two instruments (just right click on the Player and choose Combine instruments into kit) , visualised as grid in the layouts:
Dorico file example:
sepafrated percussion vs kit.dorico (1.7 MB)
Thank you so much! It was (2).
