I'm having real problems with Cubase 13 performance

I’ve been having real performance issues with C13 recently, with CPU overloads being pretty much constant on most projects, regardless of track count, VST/audio usage, whatever.

I’ve been testing stuff today, and below is a somewhat concerning screenshot of what I saw. No audio tracks, no VSTIs, no FX, nada (although I’ve got Slate VSX instantiated in the Control Room). So why the hell are the meters showing such a spike on performance?

Can anybody help?

I’ve run various scans on my system, and there doesn’t seem to be anything nasty lurking in the background, so I can hopefully write that out.

Intel Core i7 6700, 4 cores, 64Gb RAM, not exactly brand new, obviously, but still a fairly nice bit of kit.

Download and run Latency Monitor. It should ID the problem area. Also remove the Slate plugin. It may still be using processor power.

Cheers. Downloading LM now. Removing VSX didn’t make any difference, sadly.
