I'm lost, regarding staff /instrument names (specifically violins)

I know this is a relatively recent (ie, since version 3.5 I think?) feature.
I love it, as it fits the house style perfectly.
The only problem is, I forget how to apply it.

What I need is

each violin staff numbered (ie: 1 & 2), and the name “violon” placed between the two staves.

I have it for most of my scores, but for some reason, this older score I’m coming back to does not have it, and I would like to apply this style to it.

I can’t figure out what wording to use to look it up, or what section to look for it. Any and all help would be immensely appreciated.

its in engraving options under staff labels.

are there two different ways to define an instrument’s name?
I’ve found the option for setting my preference, but it isn’t working. My two violin parts are adjacent, but it’s still naming each staff “violin” with a number, instead of placing the instrument name between the two staves, and the numbers at each staff (like in the image in the menu.)

make sure that you are letting Dorico number them - the staff names need to be identical for this to work

There are separate options for Single Players and Section Players…

Aha! yes, this was the answer to the conundrum.
thank-you all for your input.

Resetting instrument names (in the jump bar or the edit menu in Setup mode) should solve this issue.
