I'm new to Cubase. Why can't I hear my MIDI instruments?

About 15-20 years ago I did some home recording with Sonar 3. Now I’m just getting back into recording with Cubase 12, and I’m totally lost. I’m a beginner all over again. Sometimes I can hear the MIDI instruments that I record, and sometimes I can’t. I’m sure that’s it’s a simple button somewhere.

I don’t know if you can see this screenshot, but I can’t hear the kick drum track.

Are you trying to send the kick to GrooveAgent? If you are, you will need to select it instead of your UR22 in the Inspector, just under where it says “All MIDI Inputs” in the screenshot…
