I bought a couple of Image Sounds plugins some 3 (?) years ago. They worked fine…until I had to replace my computer a couple of months ago and reload everything. Now they don’t show up in my plug-in manager. I contacted Image Sounds and got this response:
If you purchased the products through Steinberg, they are in Steinberg format, and we only provide the content. This means Steinberg is responsible for the technical side. Unfortunately, you would need to contact Steinberg Support directly, as we don’t have access to their system and can’t assist with that.
Is there any way I can retrieve/reload/reactivate these plugins?
Thanks for your help.

Are these real plugins or sound expansions for Halion (Sonic)?
Nothing in Halion. And my Image Sounds account shows nothing. I think I’m the creek?
Can you please name some of the “plugins” that you bought?
Pedal Steel Guitar 1
Acoustic Guitar 1 (I think)
Hold on! I just found this. So I did buy Halion instruments and did activate them. (My memory is almost non-existent). So that’s cool. But they’re not showing up in Halion. Where are they?

Yes, of course, they are in “Loops and Samples” in the Media tab. I feel a bit like an idiot – but then Cubase can do that to you.
Thanks for your input.
Greg
I’m glad you found the items you purchased.
Please note that they are not plugins but merely a collection of audio files.
Right. I guess I’m (mis)using the term “plug in” in an extremely generic sense.
Thanks for straightening me out!
Well, here’s today’s Cubase error message. I can, fortunately, still open Cubase even with the message.
Any suggestions as to how to deal with it?

Never have seen this before.
I would de-install Steinberg Media Bay (Windows → Settings → Apps…),
then download and re-install it.
Download from here:
I uninstalled and reinstalled Media Bay and it seemed to remedy the problem – at least for now. But I hold my breath every time I open Cubase because I’ve had so many ongoing problems with it.
At any rate, thanks a lot for your help.

Hello Johnny. Thanks for all your help. You really know your stuff. So here’s my latest conundrum:
Prior to your advice (which was spot on), I spoke phone support from Cubase regarding the media bay problem. He remotely took control of my computer (which was fine by me) and proceeded to troubleshoot. In his search, he installed my Cubase Pro 14, installed 15 trial, uninstalled that, reinstalled a new version Pro 14. The problem persisted. Before he could find a solution, he ran out of time and had to go without reverting to my original preferences. (Why it didn’t occur to him to uninstall and reinstall media bay, as you advised correctly, I couldn’t tell you.)
The upshot is all of my preferences, key commands, color choices, etc are on my previous version Pro 14 and not the version I now have. When I emailed him about this, he emailed me back with some instructions to open my previous Cubase Pro 14 folder and copy a certain file (I can’t recall which one, and I can’t find that email) and insert it into my new Pro 14.
So, in my recycle bin, I do have a Cubase Pro 14 folder, which may contain the correct preferences info? I also see a Cubase 15 folder.
Any chance of getting the preferences, key commands, etc. back?
Thanks again for all your help.

I suddenly recalled that I created a profile at some time back. I loaded it…and almost all my settings reappeared. I still had to redo a few things, but I’m sure glad I created that.
