Implicit vs explicit rests

I know there are a lot of threads about but I would like to know if I’m on the right way:

have I to select rests and remove them?

You can select both notes and rests, then do Edit>Remove Rests (create a short cut for this - you will use it a lot). There’s no need to go pecking around to select each rest.
