Import Audio CD doesn't see CD Drive

Hi
Hoping someone can help. This morning I tried to import an audio CD into Cubase 8.0.20
When the dialogue box opens, the track listing is blank, and the drive box (top left of window) shows ??? as the drive name. So it seems Cubase is not seeing my CD drive.
The drive itself works fine, and CDs play through Windows Media Player.
The import audio CD feature was itself working fine a couple of weeks ago when I last used it.

ANY assistance would be appreciated!

Is there a solution, yet?
I have this problem on Elements 8x.
wnaspi32.dll is all there.
Wavelab 8 and Nuendo 7 are seeing the drives, as does MediaPlayer.

I am re-listing this thread.

I have just upgraded to Cubase 9, and this problem is back again…exactly the same.

I need to import some audio from a CD but cubase can’t see the CD drive…

Please help!
