Import Library - Expression Maps Location - Default Library Additions missing

Hi,
I can’t find where the Expression maps are and I can’t see the DefaultLibraryAdditions folder. I am on a Mac.

Shouldn’t Dorico open the default expression maps folder when clicking import library?
Thanks!

So you haven’t edited the Default Expression Map? You have changed it but want to use the Default one instead?

I am trying to import some expression maps to a project and can’t find where they are.
I also can’t find the DefaultLibraryAdditions folder as I want to add some expression maps there.
Thanks!

The ones that you’re trying to import - where did you previously export them to?

I am trying to import expression maps from previously installed playback templates.

I am not sure how to find those maps from previous Playback Templates.

Can you reapply the template and then export the Expression Map again?

I can’t as I am making a playback template.
Is there a default place where to find the expression maps? Why doesn’t Dorico default to that folder when importing libraries?

I guess that it’s not common for users to import default maps.

You might try Reset To Factory, export anything you like to wherever you like and then undo the factory reset?

Apply one of the previously installed playback templates.
You will then find the expression maps in the Library>Expression Maps.
From that dialogue you can export the ones you want as a library which you can import to a different project.

Can you explain this in more detail? If the Playback template has been created on your system, then it should load the Expression Maps when the template is used.

The simplest thing is probably to apply the template, and then export the maps to your own documents folders.

If you’ve read somewhere about that folder, you’ll see that you have to create it. It goes in the user settings folder, alongside all the defaults, preferences, scripts, playback templates, etc etc.

On a Mac, that’s (user)/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5/

Hi @benwiggy @Janus and @DanielMuzMurray,
I am working on Expression Maps for Berlin Strings. I loaded the Spitfire BBC template, but I want to see other expression maps for comparison.
In my opinion, Expression Maps should be available system-wide, as presets and articuation managers in DAWs.

Thanks for the DefaultLibraryAdditions info, it gets talked about but I found later that you can create it.
Where can I find more information about applications for this folder?
Thanks everyone!
