import mp3 files with same name - replace content of previous file

When import MP3 audio files with same name from different folders , Cubase Pro 9.5 (on Windows 7 64-bit) replace content of audio file (in project folder) that has been imported previously.

(It’s bug when import MP3 files, not wav files. If import wav files, Cubase will import them properly)

To recreate the problem…

  1. Create empty project and select Project Folder.
  2. Add an audio track
  3. Open MediaBay
  4. Drag from MediaBay MP3 audio file (not wav) (for example: “03.mp3”) from folder 1 (first file), to project audio track. (Select checkbox “Copy File to working Directory” and checkboxes convert to project “Samle Rate” and “Samle Size”)
(after this, Cubase create this wav file in project folder(for example: file 03.wav - copy of first file)
  5. Don’t play. (because if now play file in project, next step will cause an error: “Cannot convert this type of file!”).
  6. Drag from MediaBay another MP3 file with same name (for example: file 03.mp3) from another folder (second file), to project audio track.
(Select checkbox “Copy File to working Directory” and checkboxes convert to project “Samle Rate” and “Samle Size”).

Result:
Cubase replace content of first file (03.wav) to content from second file in proiject folder. :frowning: But in Project displayed as 2 files - “03” and “03 (2)”, and if play “03” in pool or in project , this file content same as in “03 (2) !!! and in project, this clips have different waveforms, but when play - they have same audio content (from second file)”. And in project folder we have only one file - “03.wav”

(this bug in Cubase Pro 9.0.40, Nuendo 7.0.20 trial, and now in Cubase Pro 9.5.10)

My system: Cubase 9.5.10, Windows 7 64bit
Thank you.
