When importing multiple audio files at once with the “Insert files onto a single track” option enabled, Nuendo still creates multiple tracks (a new track for each audio file) if the files are not dragged directly onto an existing audio track but are instead inserted, for example, into an empty project or at the end of the track list. If the audio files are placed onto an existing audio track, they all end up on that single track, as expected.
Can anyone confirm this bug? If so, I can post it in the official bug collection thread.

What Nuendo version do you run? How exactly do you import (drag and drop - from File Explorer/Finder or from MediaBay or Pool; File > Import; …)? Are you on Windows or Mac (what version)?

I’m running N15.0.30 on Win11, everything up to date. It happens when importing via drag and drop from Explorer or Soundly or MediaBay. It doesn’t happen, when importing from the File Import Menu or the Pool.
I seem to have figured out why now: The Audio File Import Menu and the Pool only import audio files directly into the timeline. When dragging it from the Explorer or the Media Bay, I can choose between the timeline and the tracklist. Importing it into the tracklist always creates a track for each audiofile, even though the option “Insert files onto a single track” is enabled. That should not happen in my opinion.
So this works (all audiofiles are getting imported into one track):
