Import MusicXML bug since last version

Hi, I’m trying to import this MusicXML file. Unfortunately, Dorico doesn’t import it well, while MuseScore does a good job.

123.musicxml.zip (5.9 KB)

(you can see where Dorico fails if a dynamic has no note)

This issue has only occurred since the latest version of Dorico.

For now, I have exported the file in MuseScore as an MXL and opened it in Dorico with no problem, but I don’t understand why the original file isn’t working in Dorico.

Thanks!

The problem seems to be triggered by the tuplet on the “ASax” instrument that crosses from one staff to the other. It ought to work, though - we’re still looking at why this might have changed in the most recent release.

We’ve looked at this a bit more now. I don’t think this has in fact changed in the most recent Dorico version - previous versions import this file in the same way. The problem is that the MusicXML file doesn’t specify which voice the different notes are in, and in this situation Dorico assumes that each staff has its own voice. This creates a problem for tuplets that cross from one staff to another, because the start and end of the tuplet will end up in a different voice as far as Dorico is concerned. This in turn causes other problems because all the rhythmic positions in the rest of the file no longer “add up”, which is why the other instruments also end up with problems.

Mmmm, I see… But… Musescore opens it well…

But thanks! I will keep that in mind.
