Import of chord symbols in midi-files

i tried to import a midi-file with integrated chord symbols . But Dorico doesn´t import the chords into the score. Is there a way to get the chord-symbols imported? In Musescore the symbols are imported correctly.

Once you’ve imported the MusicXML file, go to Setup mode, right-click the player whose staves should show chord symbols and select All Instruments, Score and Part Layouts (or words to that effect). Do the chord symbols now appear?

It´s not a MusicXML file, but a midifile. I wonder, why Dorico can´t import the chords, while the freeware app Musescore does.

The same situation applies with Midi - have you told the players to display chord symbols or not?

I have checked the settings and all players have "display chords symbols " on.

There is no standard way to include chord symbols in MIDI files. The usual way to include them is to pretend they are lyrics.

Since Dorico’s design is based on the semantics of music, not its appearance, I guess back-translating some representation of a chord symbol written in ASCII text (Midi files have no standard way to use any other text characters) is not going to be the highest priority.

I believe there is a way in Yamaha’s XG MIDI extension format to specify some basic chord symbol information, which is used in karaoke players etc., but Dorico doesn’t currently handle this.
