Import Tracks from other project BUG

I’d like to report a bug that is ocurring repeatedly. When importing tracks from a project and choosing not to import audio events (just the tracks and their settings) Cubase does import audio tracks nonetheless. This happens when the imported tracks have multiple track versions. After import there are no audio events to be seen, but when I switch to track version 1 it becomes clear that audio events have been imported.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

To ensure I understand the bug correctly:

  • Have a project with an Audio track, which contains at least 2 Track Versions.
  • Create an Empty project.
  • Import > Tracks from Project, select the original Project.
  • In the Import Options window, disable the Track Data to be Imported > Events and Parts option. Do you import to a New Track or to an already existing track?
  • Import.
  • On the imported track, select Track Version 2.
=> The Audio Parts/Events of the original project are available.

Do I understand it correctly?

Hello Martin. Thanks for your reply. You summarized correctly. I import the tracks as new ones. After importing the tracks show up with track version 2 selected and no audio to be seen (as wished). When I switch the tracks to v1 there is imported audio eventhough this wasn’t selected at import.

True, also, importing tracks from another project that DID have inputs assigned no longer retains them. In fact, this problem caused me to lose a day of work when I realized the error while reviewing the tracks. The next day, when I went to fix the problem by creating an Input Bus template in a specific way, Cubase didn’t assign them correctly when using KC.

Let me explain: I use 22 inputs. In my case, I created a new project. I imported the tracks I’m going to record. I access the mixer and with KC Shift+Alt (I don’t remember, but it’s the one that assigns the inputs consecutively), it assigns the inputs up to number 10, then repeats the 10th input and continues.

Result: Input 10 is duplicated and ends on bus 21 (when it should end on 22).

I hope you understand why Cubase frustrates me more and more. And the maintenance updates NEVER arrive…
