Import Tracks From Project. Colors not transferring?

Hello! I just imported a bunch of tracks into a new session. I then went to Import>Tracks From Project and matched all of the tracks to the tracks I wanted, however, the colors didn’t come with the import. Do you know why this is? I was really hoping that Importing Tracks From Project would bring along the colors from that project.

Hi,

It has not been implemented. I think I saw a feature request here on the forum already. Please, try to search for it and support it. If you don’t find it, make a new one, please.

I tried and I think it works this way:

  1. If you import a track from a project and set destination to “new track” it also imports the color.
  2. If you import a track from a project and set destination to “any existing” it also
doesn´t import the color but keeps the color form the track you are importing to.

Got ya! That’s really a bummer! What would the workaround be; Importing your Tracks from a projects first, then importing audio, and then dragging and dropping the audio to the right tracks or something? Or, just re-color code everything if you manually Match Tracks?

It’s close, but not there. The whole point of importing your tracks to a new project wether from scratch, or from a mixing standpoint is to get everything from those tracks into the project you want. Since color coding is an essential part of visual cues, it doesn’t make sense that this would not carry over. :frowning:

Got ya! That’s what I assumed, but that is a really strange action to NOT include when importing Tracks From Project, because the whole point is to get your color coding as well.

If you do New Tracks, then you have to drag and drop everything, which makes it inefficient. I really hope that gets implemented to include or overwrite the color (or at least give an option) because it seems illogical to not include it if you want to take it from another Project, especially if they are colors you use for specific instruments all of the time.
